My name is Orlando Mercado Del Toro. I was born on September 16th, 1993 in Mayagüez Puerto Rico. My father is Orlando Mercado Del Valle and my mother Clara Del Toro Martinez. I lived in Mayagüez until I was four years old. After that, my family and I moved to Fajardo Puerto Rico, because my father’s job required us to do so. My father is the general manager of the gospel music station Nueva Vida 97.7fm. My mother on the other hand, has been a stay-at-home-mom for most of my life. In Fajardo I studied from kindergarten to almost the end of second grade. At the end of the school year, my family had to move to Juncos. Again because of my dad’s work. At Juncos I studied from end of second grade until forth grade. After the end of the forth grade, my family moved again, this time to Humacao Puerto Rico. And here we’ve been ever since.
I studied in a private school in Caguas, and from that school was that I graduated. I graduated high school in the year 2012, when I was sixteen years old. At that same age I started studying in the University of Puerto Rico in Humacao. At first, I wanted to a doctor in medicine and because of that, I was enrolled in the biology program in my first year.  At the end of my first semester, sadly, I realized that science was not my passion. I discovered my path thanks to my INGL3103 professor, Denise Rodríguez. She was the most dynamic and charismatic professor I had ever seen. She made me want to be like her, make my students think they way she made us think.
So thanks to her, I decided to star studying English Education. But it won’t end there. I want to continue studying so I can be a professor in a university. I plan to finish my Literature Ph. D. in the next six to eight years. At the end, my plans didn't change much. I will become a doctor, only not in the field I had expected.
